In the aftermath of the recent FBI raid of President Trump’s home at Mar-a-Lago, reactions have been predictably partisan. Democrats and leftists have been watching with glee. Top Republicans are demanding answers and are launching a probe into the matter. The rest of the country expressed shock and concern. Sorry Democrats, nobody believes you anymore. When it comes to President Trump, government agencies under “Deep State” control have lost all credibility as objective, impartial actors and are instead seen as tools of biased partisans with a vendetta and continued interest in stifling a potential future political challenger. Whatever one thinks of the people involved, this is all terrible for the future of justice and the state of the country.
We can always expect members of opposition political parties to oppose the actions of their rivals, but the attitude of Democrats towards President Trump has been downright vicious from the start. This automatically throws into question the legitimacy of any action by Democrats or Trump’s political opponents against him. The American people cannot be confident any inquiry into Trump’s actions is not a politically-motivated witch hunt. If there were ever a legitimate concern of illegal activity, the allegation would have to be viewed with suspicion given the history of accusations against Trump. The authenticity of any evidence provided would similarly be questioned. Simply put, the Democrats cried wolf so many times they set a terrible precedent that can lead to nothing but trouble.

We all know the story, but just to recap, Democrats were talking about impeaching Trump before he was even inaugurated. They claimed his business success and foreign business dealings prior to politics would cause a conflict of interest and he would abuse his position to enrich himself contrary to the demands of the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution – of course making him the first politician ever at risk of doing so (sarcasm). Then there was the whole Russia collusion debacle for which Democrats also wanted to impeach him. This turned out to be mostly a Democrat fantasy but one based on that which many powerful Democrats were (and still are) themselves guilty. Democrats also tried to start an impeachment proceeding by labeling him a white nationalist enabler and racist neo-Nazi sympathizer based on the most egregious twisted logic possible (that has come to be more common place today as they throw the same labels around casually against anyone that disagrees with their social justice narratives). Next was the Ukraine “scandal” that again reflected Democrat misdeeds more than it implicated Trump in any wrong doing. The Ukraine quid pro quo impeachment was politically motivated, unwarranted and ultimately failed to remove Trump for good reason. We also have the New York State Attorney General that has been abusing her authority fishing around trying to nab Trump for not dotting an “i” or crossing a “t” on his and his company’s finances. And finally, there is the January 6th ordeal, the theatrics of which are still ongoing. While ultimately acquitted again, the impeachment in this case really amounts to a lot of speculation and Monday-morning quarterbacking in order to stretch the truth against Trump and blame him for the actions of others for political reasons.
That is just the most general of outlines. Never has there been such bad faith and ill-will aimed at an elected official in modern history. Every word he said was criticized, every opportunity to bash him or stifle him was taken; both officially and in the mainstream media, which covered Trump negatively upwards of 95% of the time. If ever there was a reason to not trust the credibility of accusers and/or the veracity of authorities in charge of an investigation, this is it.

Trump has reportedly shattered fundraising records off of this latest attack against him. His supporters still fervently back him. Every time his enemies attack him it seems to make him stronger. This is because Trump has successfully created an image of himself being the stand in for the people, implying that when they attack him, really they are attacking the people themselves. I’m sure this martyr-like image strokes Trump’s ego quite a bit. His arrogance, vanity, and other personal vices are nothing compared to those of his enemies however, and the people know it. What will Democrats cook up next to try to take him out? Time will tell, but you can be sure of one thing; thanks to the unrelenting attacks on him by Democrats over the years the majority of Americans are going to have a hard time believing it.
